The thefts were discovered around 3:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, when the New Canaan Police Department responded to Waveny Park to investigate a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle, said NCPD Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski.
The owner of a 2018 Lexus RX 350 was using the park at the time of the incident. The vehicle’s right rear passenger window was smashed.
The vehicle’s owner said a Longchamp purse left on the rear passenger seat was taken. In addition to the purse, an iPhone 6, a pair of reading glasses, a driver’s license, credit cards, approximately $50.00 and house keys were stolen, the chief said.
"Many towns in Fairfield County are experiencing similar crimes," Krolikowski said. "It is probable that the crimes are being committed by the same suspects. These suspects target public parks."
The chief reminds residents to never leaved in your vehicle.
